Washago

EXPLORE
THE COMMUNITY

Washago is a community my wife and I called home (in several waterfront houses) for almost 15 years. The beauty of the granite outcrops and mixed forests, not to mention four bodies of water – Lake Couchiching, Severn River, Black River and Green River – are only a few reasons why it’s a popular area for both cottagers and homeowners alike. With its location on the Trent-Severn Waterway, it’s a favourite for boaters, too. It’s only a 20-minute drive to Orillia (less to Casino Rama), but everything you need is right on Muskoka Street, the village’s main street. The area has a grocery store, liquor store (rumoured to have the largest walk-in beer cooler of all LCBOs), as well as unique places to get delicious treats. Washago Centennial Park on the shores of Lake Couchiching, boasts a boat launch, plus 21 acres of public park, including a beach area, dog park, and children’s play area, as well as sports fields. It’s one of my favourite places to live.
